Tiger Shroff will not play for Mumbay FC in Durand Cup 2026 final group game in Shillong on 11th August
Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff has announced he will not feature for Mumbay FC in their final Durand Cup 2026 group match in Shillong on 11th August, citing a last-minute work commitment. Mumbay FC were already eliminated after losing their first two games and conceding 10 goals in total.
Tiger had been registered in Mumbay FC’s Durand Cup squad and earlier reports said he would travel to Shillong for the club’s last group-stage fixture, a development that generated anticipation among football and neutral fans. The club posted a video on its official Instagram account in which Shroff explained his inability to attend and offered apologies and best wishes.
In the video, Shroff said: “Hi everyone, Tiger Shroff here. Really, really unfortunate, but a work commitment has come up last moment, so I won’t be able to make it to Shillong for the Durand Cup. I was really looking forward to playing for my team Mumbay FC, but unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it as I said, I just wanted to say that all the very best to everybody out there. The tournament has been amazing so far.”
He added: “I’m going to do everything in my power to support you guys as best of my capability. But there’s so much young talent and with the right support and opportunities, I truly believe Indian football can do wonders. So, until then, I just wanted to wish my team all the very best. Mumbay FC, kill it boys!”
Shroff also addressed Indian football’s progress in the same message, saying: “And keep supporting Indian football everybody. There’s so much talent like I said. I’m sure the day is not far until we reach the World Cup someday. And our national team, especially the younger kids are doing wonders right now. So, all the very best.”
He concluded the clip with: “Congratulations to all the teams who have progressed in the tournament. Looking forward to seeing more action in the Durand Cup. Lots of love and hope to play with you guys very soon,” he concluded with.
Mumbay FC’s final group-stage match remains scheduled for 11th August in Shillong and Tiger Shroff has confirmed he will not be part of the squad for that fixture.
