Tiger Shroff will not play for Mumbay FC in Durand Cup group finale in Shillong
Tiger Shroff confirmed he will not feature for Mumbay FC against Nongkseh SS CC at the Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium in Shillong in their Durand Cup 2026 final group-stage game on Tuesday, 11th August (2026). The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 PM IST.
Tiger Shroff had been registered in Mumbay FC’s squad for the Durand Cup 2026 and earlier reports said he would play the last group-stage game, a development that generated excitement among Indian football supporters and neutral fans. It was reported he would travel to Shillong to take part on 11th August, and both Mumbay FC and Nongkseh SS CC arrived at the fixture searching for a win despite there being little at stake in terms of qualification for the knockout rounds.
In a video posted on Mumbay FC’s Instagram page, Tiger Shroff said he would be unable to travel to Shillong because of work commitments and apologised to supporters. He said, “Hi everyone, Tiger Shroff here. Really, really unfortunate, but a work commitment has come up last moment, so I won’t be able to make it to Shillong for the Durand Cup. I was really looking forward to playing for my team Mumbay FC, but unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it as I said, I just wanted to say that all the very best to everybody out there. The tournament has been amazing so far.”
He added in the same message: “I’m going to do everything in my power to support you guys as best of my capability. But there’s so much young talent and with the right support and opportunities, I truly believe Indian football can do wonders. So, until then, I just wanted to wish my team all the very best. Mumbay FC, kill it boys!”
The fixture between Mumbay FC and Nongkseh SS CC will be livestreamed on Sony LIV and broadcast live on Sony Ten 2. With Shroff unavailable due to the stated work commitments, Mumbay FC will contest their final group-stage match without the Bollywood actor who had been named in their Durand Cup squad.
The Durand Cup 2026 group-stage game at the JLN Stadium in Shillong on Tuesday, 11th August (2026) remains scheduled to kick off at 7:00 PM IST and will proceed as Mumbay FC’s final group-stage outing in the tournament.
