Titans release Jordan Elliott after reports he retrieved gun following practice altercation

Jordan Elliott was released by the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday after reports that the defensive lineman went to his car to retrieve a gun following an altercation at a team practice last Thursday. The team said it made the decision after reviewing footage of the incident.
According to reports from A to Z Sports and KPRC2, Elliott was ordered off the field after a scuffle with right tackle JC Latham, removed his pads and left the facility before walking to the players’ parking lot where security cameras captured the scene. Defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers reportedly talked Elliott down and no one was hurt. Media accounts state the sequence occurred on Thursday 15 October.
Elliott did not practice on the Friday after the incident because of “personal reasons” and was listed inactive for Sunday’s 26-20 win against the Indianapolis Colts. Prior to his inactivity, he had appeared in the first five games of the season for the Titans.
After reviewing footage of the incident, the Titans opted to release the 28-year-old. Elliott had signed a two-year, $8m deal during the offseason and the team confirmed it had made a roster decision following its review.
Elliott has previously played for the Cleveland Browns and the San Francisco 49ers, having been picked by the Browns in the third round of the 2020 draft.
“On Thursday 15 October, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott,” the Titans said in a statement. “Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter.”
