Tolkien and Ranquelino pleased in Bengaluru workout

BENGALURU: Racehorses Tolkien and Ranquelino pleased their connections when they were exercised at the training track on Tuesday morning (August 4). Other runners were also put through timed gallops across distances from 600m to 1,400m during the session.

The morning produced recorded splits and brief condition notes for several horses, with trainers or observers noting form and work patterns. Elysium, Fortis, Rojo, Country’s Marvel, Mandalay, Doncaster Belle and the two headliners were among those reported. Times and short comments were provided alongside jockey names for each workout.

At the 1,200m bracket Elysium (Shreyas) covered the distance in 1-22.5, with further splits of 1,000/1-7.5 and 600/39.5, and was described as In fine trim. Fortis (Shreyas) recorded 1-23 for 1,200m, with 1,000/1-7.5 and 600/38.5 and drew the note Impressed. Both horses were ridden by Shreyas during these gallops.

Over 600m, Rojo (Laxman S) and Country’s Marvel (Arul) posted 45 and were recorded as having finished level. Mandalay (Antony) covered 600m in 47 and was labelled Easy. The 600m times and finishing order were specifically noted for those three runners.

In 1,000m work Ranquelino (R. Pradeep) returned a time of 1-15 with a 600m split of 44 and the report appended Pleased. Doncaster Belle (Arul) also did 1-15 for 1,000m, with a 600m split of 43.5 and the comment Worked well. Jockeys R. Pradeep and Arul were listed with those respective efforts.

Tolkien (Antony) completed a 1,400m piece in 1-40.5 with further splits of 1,200/1-25.5, 1,000/1-11 and 600/42.5 and was described as Moved impressively. The 1,400m time and the sequence of intermediate splits were recorded alongside the note on the horse’s movement. Antony was listed as the rider for Tolkien’s workout.
