Tottenham injury update: Van de Ven, Porro, Sarr and Kudus ruled out for Brentford opener

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi issued an update saying several players will be unavailable for the Premier League opener at Brentford on 22nd August, kick-off 10 pm IST.
Tottenham have struggled across the past two Premier League seasons but showed signs of improvement under De Zerbi toward the end of last campaign. The match at Brentford begins Spurs’ 2026-27 league programme and arrives after a disappointing 2025-26 season. The club has spent heavily during the summer transfer window and will be aiming to push into the top half of the Premier League.
De Zerbi confirmed that Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro, Pape Matar Sarr and Mohammed Kudus will all be unavailable for the trip to Brentford.
“Micky is not on the list tomorrow like Pedro Porro. James Maddison is inside [it], Solanke inside, Udogie, Fernandes also. Sarr not because he felt some pain, but nothing big. Kudus is almost ready.” said De Zerbi.
The manager did not offer an update on Dejan Kulusevski; De Zerbi said the winger is highly unlikely to be available after missing the whole preseason.
De Zerbi also declined to provide an update on Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert. Both players are rehabilitating from ACL injuries, so it will be some time before they return to action.
Tottenham’s Premier League campaign begins with the trip to Brentford on 22nd August at 10 pm IST.
