Trippier suffers left-knee MCL injury on Wolves league debut

Kieran Trippier sustained a medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury in his left knee on his Wolverhampton Wanderers league debut during Friday's 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers, the club has confirmed. The 35-year-old is expected to be sidelined following the injury sustained in that match.
Trippier signed a two-year deal at Molineux in June after arriving on a free transfer in June and the club said he will be out "for a number of weeks". Wolves issued the medical update as part of a wider fitness bulletin covering multiple members of the squad.
Fellow defender Yerson Mosquera picked up an injury against Blackburn and has sustained a slight tear in his ankle ligaments. The 25-year-old is expected to miss several weeks of action while the club assesses his recovery.
Wolves director of performance Phil Hayward offered an update on winger Rafiki Said, who suffered a "high-grade" MCL injury in a pre-season friendly against Maidenhead United last month, 11 days after arriving at the club as a summer signing. "Rafiki's been working very hard in the gym for the last few weeks with his brace on. He's now out of the brace and the most recent scan looks great, so he's heading, certainly, in the right direction," Hayward said.
Hayward also provided timelines for other squad members as part of the club's medical bulletin. He confirmed goalkeeper Sam Johnstone was a week away from full fitness while Haiti international midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde was another couple of weeks from returning to first-team training.
Trippier and Mosquera face multi-week absences, while Said continues rehabilitation with positive scan results and Johnstone and Bellegarde are approaching returns to full training, according to the club's latest update.
