Trois Couleurs preview compares GTA 6 opening to first viewing of Avatar

Khel Now reported on September 28, 2026 that French magazine Trois Couleurs, in a preview, described the opening moments of GTA 6 as feeling like watching the movie Avatar for the first time in 2009.

The magazine's early impressions did not dwell on graphical fidelity, frame rates or other technical metrics; instead Trois Couleurs focused on the emotional effect of stepping into a new game world and described a strong sense of discovery that it said felt fresh and unlike previous experiences.

Trois Couleurs highlighted the title's open world as highly immersive, saying players would be drawn to explore the map, interact with NPCs and uncover events and hidden elements rather than concentrate exclusively on main missions.

The preview also stated that that exploration could prove as rewarding as following the story missions and placed the comparison to Avatar around that sensation of novelty; the magazine said Avatar’s debut in 2009 was on a whole other level and it kind of changed everything when it comes to fantasy genre films.

The publication stressed the comparison was not based on graphics or technical achievement but on the quality of immersion, and it suggested GTA 6 might be the most immersive open-world game that players can experience.
