Tuchel names Jobe Bellingham in England squad; brothers could become third pair to play together

England head coach Thomas Tuchel announced a 25-member squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League 2026-27 matches in November and handed a maiden senior call-up to Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham. Jude Bellingham is also included in the squad and, if Jobe makes an appearance, the brothers would become the third pair of siblings to play together for England.
The 21-year-old Jobe has made 14 appearances across all competitions this season, registering three assists for Borussia Dortmund. Despite being just 23 years old, Jude Bellingham has already won 60 caps for the Three Lions; he was his nation’s top scorer in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, netting seven goals, and the Real Madrid midfielder has become an important player for his country under Thomas Tuchel.
Jack and Bobby Charlton formed one of the sibling combinations to represent England together: Bobby Charlton made his international debut in 1958 while Jack Charlton joined him on the international stage in 1965, and the brothers played 28 matches together. They were both members of the Three Lions squad that won the 1966 FIFA World Cup, lifting the trophy together at Wembley.
A statement published after Jack Charlton’s death read: "We are extremely saddened by the passing of Jack Charlton, brother of Sir Bobby and member of England's 1966 World Cup-winning team. Our deepest condolences go to all the Charlton family for their immensely sad loss. pic.twitter.com/rkVjsYDVSF"
Phil and Gary Neville make up the other sibling pair to have played together for England: the brothers earned a combined 144 caps and appeared alongside one another in 31 international matches. Phil Neville made his international debut in May 1996 against China and the pair’s last outing together came during Gary Neville’s international farewell against Spain in February 2007.
Jobe has made 63 appearances for the German Bundesliga side since his move from Sunderland and is expected to make his senior international debut during the November window. If he takes the field in the upcoming matches, he and Jude would join Jack and Bobby Charlton and Phil and Gary Neville as the three sibling pairs to have played together for the nation.
Over the years, an astonishing 21 pairs of brothers have represented England, but only three of those pairs have featured together on the pitch for their country. England face Croatia and Spain in the November UEFA Nations League fixtures, the matches in which Jobe could make his senior debut and, if selected, link up with Jude on the international stage.
