Twitch CEO Dan Clancy says GTA 6 online multiplayer could arrive in 2027

Twitch chief Dan Clancy told Bloomberg in a recent interview that Grand Theft Auto VI’s online multiplayer could arrive in 2027, and that Twitch will see a major viewership increase when the game launches and “an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.”

Rockstar Games has centred public discussion of GTA 6 on its single-player story mode, open world, visuals, realism and gameplay features, rather than on multiplayer timing or specifics.

Clancy said he has spent “a lot of time” talking to Rockstar about GTA 6’s launch and its impact on the streaming platform.

He added that Twitch is already in deep discussion with Rockstar about plans and how content creators and streamers can engage with the game after the global launch.

“You are going to see this big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.” Clancy did not disclose further details about the game’s features or provide an exact date for the online mode.

According to Clancy’s comments, GTA 6 Online could launch sometime in 2027, although Rockstar has not officially confirmed that timeline; Rockstar has confirmed that multiplayer is planned but will not be available at launch.

Rockstar has scheduled the single-player edition of Grand Theft Auto VI to release on November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
