Two Antigua and Barbuda players sent off for pulling rival's dreadlocks

Two Antigua and Barbuda players were sent off for pulling Aedan Scipio's dreadlocks during a CONCACAF Nations League match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on 28 September 2026. The incidents followed Scipio’s introduction as a substitute.

Scipio is a 36-year-old forward whose dreadlocks reach his ankles and he keeps them tied to his body with a band around his waist. He came off the bench in the 69th minute with Anguilla already 5-0 down.

Three minutes after Scipio entered the match, Keon Greene of Antigua and Barbuda was shown a straight red card for tugging Scipio’s dreadlocks. The dismissal was issued immediately following the hair pull.

In added time a second Antigua and Barbuda player, Shalon Knight, pulled Scipio’s dreadlocks from behind and took him off his feet. That action resulted in Knight being sent off and left Antigua and Barbuda with nine men.

Scipio’s Anguilla are 210th in FIFA's international rankings. San Marino is the only nation below them.
