Tyrannus wins The Hindu Trophy at RWITC Media Day in Pune

Tyrannus, ridden by Antony Raj S and trained by Imtiaz A. Sait, won The Hindu Trophy at the RWITC ‘Media Day’ meeting in Pune on Saturday, Aug. 22. The winner is owned by Mr. C. Aryama Sundaram.

The Hindu Trophy (1,400m) produced a finishing order of TYRANNUS (Antony Raj S) 1, Emperor Roderic (Mosin) 2, Matisse (Ramswarup) 3 and Axlrod (Aditya) 4, with Dedication declared not to have run. Distances at the line were 2-1/4, a Neck and 1-3/4 and the time was 1m 25.51s. The race returned ₹47 (w), 22 and 38 (p), and the reported pools were SHP: 275, FP: 1,428, Q: 602, Tanala: 6,787 and 582; the favourite was Wings Of Fury.

In the opening Free Press Journal Trophy (1,400m) FLASH MOB (C. Umesh) won from Phantasmique (Ramswarup), Remy Red (Aditya) and Whisper (Vishal) by 1-1/2, 1-3/4 and a Head in 1m 26.97s. The race paid ₹147 (w), 22, 14 38 (p) and recorded SHP: 40, FP: 1,136, Q: 240, Tanala: 5,220 and 4,474; the favourite was Phantasmique, the owner Mr. Cowas D. Bajan and the trainer Faisal A. Abbas.

The Race Mirror Trophy (2,000m) was taken by LITTLE JOHN (Neeraj Rawal) ahead of Oliver (Yash), Manwar (Akshay K) and Diego Garcia (Sandesh) by a Nose, 3 and 1-3/4 in 2m 5.43s. The winners’ returns were ₹44 (w), 32 and 17 (p) with SHP: 27, FP: 218, Q: 80, Tanala: 381 and 146; the favourite was Manwar and the trainer listed was Dallas Todywalla.

SUKOON (Antony Raj S) won the Indiarace.com Trophy (Div. II) (1,200m), defeating Sequential (Neeraj), Mother’s Gift (Ashad Asbar) and Shamara (P. Dhebe) by a Short Neck, 1-3/4 and 3/4 in 1m 10.54s. The race paid ₹59 (w), 21, 16 and 12 (p) and recorded SHP: 80, FP: 285, Q: 171, Tanala: 548 and 132; the favourite was Mother’s Gift, the owner Mr. Rajan Aggarwal and the trainer P.S. Chouhan.

The Times of India Trophy (1,600m) went to DREAMER (N.S. Parmar) with Rosario (Neeraj), Elysium (Akshay K) and Opus Dei (C.S. Jodha) finishing second to fourth by 3/4, 1/2 and 1 in 1m 38.72s. The race returned ₹36 (w), 22 and 15 (p) and posted SHP: 36, FP: 60, Q: 140, Tanala: 537 and 171; the favourite was Namiri, the owner Mr. Prashant Nagar rep. SKJ Thoroughbreds Pvt. Ltd. and the trainer M.K. Jadhav.

RED LIGHTNING (Neeraj Rawal) won the Indiarace.com Trophy (Div. I) (1,200m) from Queen Caroline (Prasad), El Nino (Yash) and Cakar View (A. Gaikwad) by a Short Head, 1-1/2 and a Long Neck in 1m 10.33s. The race paid ₹30 (w), 14, 15 and 12 (p) with SHP: 47, FP: 139, Q: 114, Tanala: 203 and 79; the favourite was El Nino and the trainer Narendra Lagad.

FLOYD (Ramswarup) prevailed in the Mid-Day Trophy (1,600m) ahead of Fire Away (Dashrath), Legadema (Yash) and Avante (Sandesh) by 1/2, 1 and a Short Neck in 1m 40.25s, with Rainbow Connection not having run. SPOTLIGHT (A. Ashad Asbar) won the Dopahar Trophy (1,200m) from Bohemian Rhapsody (Vishal), Believe (Ajinkya) and Mila (Omkar) by 3-3/4, a Short Head and 1/2 in 1m 9.67s, with Silver Strike not having run. The race paid ₹28 (w), 19, 14 and 25 (p), recorded SHP: 54, FP: 246, Q: 152, Tanala: 615 and 319, named Spotlight as favourite and listed the owners as Mr. Avinash S. Gadkar, Mrs. Ayesha A.
