Uefa and Concacaf call on Fifa to pay $10m to each of 211 member associations

Uefa and Concacaf wrote to Fifa president Gianni Infantino on 18 September 2026 calling for Fifa to pay at least $10m (£7.5m) from its cash reserves to each of the 211 member associations.

The demand is part of an escalating dispute following Infantino's aborted private equity plan, Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE), which was withdrawn after four days amid widespread opposition from national associations. In a statement issued immediately after FFE was cancelled on 1 August, Uefa said "with reserves standing at over $5bn (£3.7bn), he has also failed to use associations' money for the benefit of the game" and has called for a one-off release of reserves that would cost $2.11bn (£1.57bn). Uefa said the payment would be in addition to the regular funding in the 2027-30 cycle.

Fifa Forward Enterprise would have created a new company to manage commercial and ticketing rights of all competitions, including World Cups, with 21% sold off to an investment company.

The joint letter from Uefa and Concacaf is described in the source material as the latest chapter in the war of words between the governing bodies and comes after the FFE proposal was scrapped following its public opposition.

The previous day Football Association chair Debbie Hewitt sent a separate letter to Infantino and Fifa secretary general Mattias Grafstrom demanding that all documents relating to the controversial plan be released; Hewitt, a Fifa vice-president, also said the Fifa Council should receive a written explanation for the cancelled suspension of United States forward Folarin Balogun at the World Cup.

Gianni Infantino was first elected as Fifa president in 2016; Infantino, 56, will stand for election for a fourth time in March, with his opponents having until 18 November to find an alternative candidate.

Infantino was told he should make all documents available before the next Fifa Council meeting, which is on 15 October.
