Urvil Patel scored an unbeaten 210 off 227 deliveries to help Gujarat declare their first innings at 534/9 against Kerala in the Ranji Trophy 2026-27 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, November 3. The 28-year-old wicketkeeper-batter reached his maiden first-class double century in the innings, which included 17 fours and six sixes.

Known for his white-ball power hitting, Patel built on a breakthrough Indian Premier League campaign with Chennai Super Kings in 2026 by converting that momentum into the longer format. He finished the IPL season with 197 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 205.21, striking 20 sixes and 11 fours, and had produced quickfire contributions of 24 off 12 against Mumbai Indians and 17 off nine against Delhi Capitals.

Patel’s first-class knock featured a century brought up in 91 deliveries before he accelerated to the double figure milestone, reaching 200 in 214 balls. He remained unbeaten on 210(227), and Gujarat declared after the sizeable total was posted at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Patel’s innings contained 17 fours and six sixes.

Gujarat had been five wickets down when Patel came to the crease, and he spent time at the crease while building partnerships with the lower order to push the team past the 500-run mark. Earlier in the ongoing Ranji Trophy campaign he had registered scores of 85 against Odisha and 96 off 72 against Maharashtra.

Patel’s standout performance in the IPL came on May 10 against Lucknow Super Giants, when he equalled the record for the fastest half-century in IPL history by reaching fifty in 13 deliveries and finished 65 off 23 with six sixes and seven fours as CSK chased 204 with five wickets to spare. That effort made him a joint-fastest fifty-maker in the tournament’s history alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The domestic governing body highlighted the innings on social media: "The best of Urvil Patel's scintillating 210(227) for Gujarat - his maiden double ton in first-class cricket Updates https://t.co/9SDceLaOZW #RanjiTrophy | @mflone_ https://t.co/IBzjaRmr0v— BCCI Domestic (@BCCIdomestic) November 3, 2026"

For a batter who made headlines with his 13-ball IPL fifty, the unbeaten double century is an equally significant statement; Patel is increasingly demonstrating that his aggressive instincts can translate into substantial contributions across formats.
