On 21 August 2026 BBC Sport reported that Usain Bolt has been registered as a player for Wythenshawe Vets FC, a veterans' Sunday league side in Manchester, with the Football Association's Full‑Time website listing the 40‑year‑old Jamaican in the Premier Division of the Cheshire Veterans Football League.

Bolt won eight Olympic golds and 11 world titles during his athletics career and is the fastest man in history over 100m and 200m, having set the world records for both distances at the 2009 Athletics World Championships; he retired from athletics in 2017 and subsequently pursued a career in professional football.

The over‑35s Wythenshawe side, based in south Manchester, drew attention last year for assembling a squad that included former professionals such as England and Liverpool striker Emile Heskey, Everton striker Oumar Niasse, Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia, Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse, Manchester City duo Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha, and Premier League title winners Joleon Lescott and Danny Drinkwater.

Bolt’s previous spells in football included a 2018 appearance for Australian A‑League club Central Coast Mariners in which he scored twice in a friendly; he signed a contract with the club after rejecting a two‑year offer from Maltese side Valletta, but left the Mariners eight weeks later.

Wythenshawe have not officially announced Bolt’s registration and the club have been contacted for comment.
