Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in contention for India’s fourth T20I against West Indies in Hyderabad

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could feature for India against the West Indies in the fourth T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, Telangana on October 14, 2026, with the match scheduled to start at 7:00 PM IST. India lead the five-match series 2-1 heading into the game and Sooryavanshi has not yet been given a debut in this series.

India opened the series with an eight-wicket victory in which Naman Dhir took three wickets and captain Shreyas Iyer struck 102 off 43 balls. The hosts lost the second match after Shai Hope’s unbeaten 102 off 45 balls and Sherfane Rutherford’s 84-run innings. India reclaimed momentum in the third T20I, defeating the Caribbean side by 14 runs at the Holkar Stadium in Indore to move 2-1 ahead in the series.

Team management could alter the top order if they opt to include Sooryavanshi for the fourth T20I; the most likely change outlined would see him replace Sanju Samson as an opener, with Samson dropping down the batting order. The report notes that a number of adjustments would be required to the playing XI should the skipper and the coach decide to hand the 15-year-old a start.

Sooryavanshi posted on Instagram on Monday appearing ready to take a starting role for India against the West Indies, accompanied by the caption: "A post shared by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (@vaibhav_sooryavanshi09)".

The Rajasthan Royals’ opening batter has appeared in eight T20Is for India, scoring 246 runs at an average of 30.75 with a highest score of 81. His most recent international appearance came against Pakistan in the gold medal match at the Asian Games 2026.

If Sooryavanshi is omitted from the fourth T20I and India win the match, the report states he would be more likely to receive a chance in the final game of the series because the Men in Blue would already have secured the series.
