Valencia CF will host Villarreal CF at the Estadio de Mestalla on October 24 in a LaLiga 2026-27 match, as both sides look to arrest poor runs of form.

Valencia arrive having won only once in nine league outings and sit 19th on the table; the club are winless in their last three games and were held to a 0-0 draw by Athletic Club. Javier Aguirre’s side have struggled to control matches recently and Aguirre will be searching for a different tactical approach, with the home setting cited as a potential advantage.

Villarreal have produced underwhelming displays in their last two LaLiga fixtures and manager Iñigo Pérez has fielded an inconsistent side in recent matches. The Yellow Submarine will be on the road for this contest, a factor the preview notes could complicate their efforts to regain winning form.

Midfielder-forward Javier Guerra is expected to play a key role for Valencia; the 23-year-old did not score in the previous league game but “created the joint-most chances (3) and took the joint-most shots (3).” The preview describes him as an important asset in both midfield and attack for the hosts.

Georges Mikautadze provided Villarreal with an early goal against Liverpool in their recent Champions League outing, and although “his goal was not enough to get the LaLiga side to a win, he was quite influential for them in the final third.” The 25-year-old is set to lead Villarreal’s line as the main striker.

Valencia will be without Diego Lopez and Sergi Canos because of injuries, while Dimitri Fourquier and Jose Copete have returned to training; Justin De Haas and Umar Sadiq are not yet confirmed for the squad. Villarreal will miss Nicolas Pepe due to an eye injury, and Nathan Saliba and Carlos Romero are likely to sit out because of fitness issues.

Probable lineups are listed as follows: Valencia — Dimitrievski (GK); Maffeo, Tarrega, Martinez, Gaya; Pepelu, Rodriguez; Raba, Guerra, Danjuma; Duro. Villarreal — Gulacsi (GK); Freeman, Foyth, Costa, Cardona; Akhomach, Comesana, Macia, Moleiro; Mikautadze, Oluwaseyi.

The clash takes place on October 24 at the Mestella Stadium; in Spain the broadcast partners are Movistar, DAZN and Teledeporte, and in the USA the match will be shown on ESPN, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes.
