Vansh Bedi named in Tehelka probe alleging CSK playing XI leaks during 2025 IPL

Chennai Super Kings player Vansh Bedi has been identified in allegations of a playing XI leak linked to the 2025 Indian Premier League, following a Tehelka hidden-camera investigation and subsequent reporting on September 22, 2026. The probe names a middleman, Rachit Bhatia, who told an undercover Tehelka reporter he passed inside information to London-based bookmakers and admitted to fixing and spot-fixing in past tournaments.

Match-fixing controversies have affected the IPL before: a 2013 case involved S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, Ankeet Chavan, Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra, after which Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan received lifetime bans and Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were suspended for two years. Tehelka’s Special Investigation Team reported an alleged playing XI leak network operating within the IPL; the player who reportedly provided the information was not named in Tehelka’s report. Cricket journalist Pratyush Halder identified the cricketer on X (formerly Twitter) as Vansh Bedi.

According to the reports, Vansh Bedi had been bought by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2025 IPL edition but, due to an injury, was replaced by Urvil Patel for the rest of the season. The coverage states Bedi played for CSK in 2025 before getting injured.

The reporting alleges Vansh Bedi supplied CSK’s playing XI details to Rachit Bhatia, who acted as a middleman, passing the information on before the toss. The price cited for each match was INR 60 lakh and the material was reportedly forwarded to London-based bookmakers via Snapchat.

Rachit Bhatia told a Tehelka undercover reporter: “I fixed five matches during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season by passing inside information about the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to bookies in London via Snapchat. I earned Rs 60 lakh per match, totalling Rs 3 crore for those five matches.” He added: “I also engaged in spot-fixing during the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a tournament I played in. I deliberately bowled two wide balls, receiving Rs 8 lakh per ball from the bookies, making a total of Rs 16 lakh.” The reports say they used a system of specific emojis to address players and that only cash payments were being made.
