Former France international Vikash Dhorasoo spoke at a press conference at the VYBK in Kolkata ahead of India’s friendly with Brazil on 3 October 2026, saying: “I’m sure that coach Khalid Jamil will put a good tactic to beat Brazil.”

Kolkata will host two international friendlies on 3 and 6 October 2026, with India scheduled to face Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil on 3 October and a Diego Forlán-led Uruguay on 6 October at the VYBK (Salt Lake Stadium). The matches follow India’s stalemate against Panama at Bengaluru, and organisers have arranged the fixtures at the VYBK in Kolkata.

Dhorasoo said the Brazil fixture can give Indian players a chance to measure themselves against the five-time World Cup champions and urged the squad to embrace the occasion rather than simply treating it as another match. “We have to take advantage of this moment.” “Maybe they can score and win the match.”

Referencing player development and match experience, Dhorasoo added: “Each game has its own importance and helps you to progress. Of course, it’s a great help to play the best team in the world,” he said.

On the wider structure of Indian football, Dhorasoo warned that one or two high-profile games would not be enough by themselves and stressed the role of domestic and local football in producing talent. “Local football is just as important as the special game you might have,” he said. “Football must be played. That’s the most important thing. The key point is to play, have fun and keep doing it.”

Dhorasoo also spoke about his connection to India and his willingness to support the All India Football Federation with his ideas, describing a personal link to the country. “It is fully part of my DNA, and this is my ancestors’ land. I have this incredible link with India, which has always been rich in culture.”

He recounted being pleased to visit Calcutta for the first time and thanked the Indian Federation for the invitation. “I like India; I have a special connection with India and also with Calcutta. It is my first time in Calcutta, so I am very happy to be here. I was invited by the Indian Federation, which organised everything very well. I would like to thank them for making all of this possible.”

India will meet Brazil on 3 October and Uruguay on 6 October, with both fixtures scheduled to take place at the VYBK in Kolkata.
