Vinod Kambli struggles to speak coherently in Thane care-centre video

Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli struggled to speak coherently in a video posted from the Nidan Centre for Elderly Care in Thane on September 25, 2026, where he is undergoing treatment. In the clip he offered an assuring message to fans while remaining in the facility.

The 54-year-old is currently staying at the Nidan Centre for Elderly Care and spoke in the video about the treatment and care he has been receiving there. The centre has been identified by his representatives as the place where he is undergoing ongoing medical attention.

A post on Twitter by user Abhishek shared the clip and said: "Vinod Kambli’s latest video, he is presently at an elderly care centre in Thane.Praying for his recovery soon. pic.twitter.com/6k1plg1aCl— Abhishek (@ImAbhishek7_) September 25, 2026." The tweet circulated public footage of Kambli speaking from the facility.

Kambli’s appearance in the video follows several years of documented health problems that have periodically drawn public concern. A video from August 2024 showing him struggling to walk had previously prompted speculation about his condition.

Medical episodes dating back more than a decade have been recorded in reports of his health. He suffered a heart attack in 2013 and underwent angioplasty for arterial blockages; his condition worsened toward the end of 2024, and in December that year he was admitted to a Thane hospital with a urinary infection, cramps, dizziness and fever.

Doctors treating Kambli in December 2024 found electrolyte imbalances, including low sodium and potassium levels, which were reported as contributing to his muscle cramps and mobility issues. Further examinations at that time revealed clots in his brain that physicians linked to an earlier stroke; he spent around two weeks in hospital and was discharged on January 1, 2025, leaving with assistance while holding a cricket bat and thanking well-wishers.

Earlier this year he returned to Shivaji Park to mark Sachin Tendulkar's 53rd birthday, spent time with young cricketers there and shared ice cream while recalling memories from his early playing days under coach Ramakant Achrekar. Those appearances were reported amid ongoing public interest in his health and his connections to Mumbai’s cricketing system.

Kambli emerged alongside Sachin Tendulkar from Mumbai under coach Ramakant Achrekar and made his India debut in 1991. He played 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for India between 1991 and 2000, scoring 1,084 runs in Tests at an average of 54.20, including four centuries, and accumulating 2,477 runs in ODIs.

In the video Kambli offered a direct statement on his condition: "I am currently undergoing treatment. I would like to mention that the facilities here are excellent. Staying here, I never feel like I am away from home. I receive a lot of love and respect from the people here," Kambli said in a video. He remains at the Nidan Centre for Elderly Care receiving treatment.
