Vortex and Moonveil set to decide Coromandel Gromor Deccan Fillies Championship

Vortex and Moonveil were set to fight out the finish of the Coromandel Gromor Deccan Fillies Championship at Hyderabad on Sunday (Aug. 30), the feature race of the day's card, the published programme showed.

The Coromandel Gromor Deccan Fillies Championship (Gr. III) was scheduled over 1,600m for 3-year-old fillies at 4.30 p.m., with eight entries named: Grit ‘N’ Grace (8) Mukesh K 56, Madante (2) Akshay K 56, Moon Oracle (3) Antony Raj 56, Moonveil (4) Trevor 56, Regal Beauty (6) Sandesh 56, Sensuous (7) Neeraj 56, Sprezzatura (1) Ashad Asbar 56 and Vortex (5) Vivek G 56. The result for the race was recorded as 1. VORTEX, 2. MOONVEIL, 3. MADANTE.

The opening contest, the Carter Princess Plate (1,800m) for 3-year-olds and upward rated 20 to 45 (Cat. III) at 1.35 p.m., was won by Theos (2) Trevor carrying 61.5; the placed horses were 2. Mandate and 3. Orionvale.

In the Belmont Prince (1,800m) Maiden for 3-year-olds only (Cat. II) at 2.10 p.m., Lysia (8) Akshay K 54.5 took first place, with Digital Empress second and Tipped Off third.

The Bhagyanagar Million (1,400m) for 3-year-olds and upward rated 80 and above (Cat. I) at 2.45 p.m. produced Ashoka (9) Mukesh K 63 as the winner; African Gold finished second and Regal Reality third.

The Director General Artillery Cup (1,100m) Maiden for 3-year-olds and upward rated 20 to 45 (Cat. III) at 3.20 p.m. was claimed by Live Legend (11) Akshay K 57, with Konaseema and Timeless Elegance filling the minor placings.

The Director General of Police Trophy (Div. I) over 1,400m for 4-year-olds and upward rated 40 to 65 (Cat. II) at 3.55 p.m. returned Clefairy (A.A. Vikrant 56) first, Solara (Akshay K 51.5) second and Basilica (Trevor 55) third; the Division II contest at 5.05 p.m. was won by Disciple (Antony Raj 59) ahead of Knight Regent (Trevor 60.5) and Foxy Girl (I. Chisty 56).

The race day card included betting pools printed on the programme: a Jackpot covering races 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7; two Mini Jackpots for races (i) 1, 2, 3 & 4 and (ii) 4, 5, 6 & 7; and two Trebles for combinations (i) 2, 3 & 4 and (ii) 5, 6 & 7.
