VS Rathanvel repeats 2500 rating quest before becoming India's 99th Grandmaster

VS Rathanvel secured the rating required to complete his Grandmaster title in Hungary, becoming India’s 99th Grandmaster and ending a four-year wait.

FIDE did not recognise his initial rating achievement, and despite completing his norms in 2022 the Coimbatore player had to cross the 2500 rating mark again.

After setbacks, pressure and uncertainty, he concluded the process in Hungary and ended the four-year wait with relief rather than celebration.
