Wigan overwhelm St Helens in Super Four opener at BrewDog Stadium
Wigan Warriors defeated St Helens at the BrewDog Stadium in the opening Super Four match of the 2026 Women's Super League on 6 August 2026. The champions scored nine tries to maintain a 100% record in 2026.

It was Wigan's fifth successive victory over Saints in the past 12 months, coming after a 54-6 win in the Challenge Cup final at Wembley, as the defending champions extended their recent dominance.
Wigan opened scoring from their first set when a high kick into the sun on the last tackle was spilled by Saints full-back Liv Leach and bounced for Ellise Derbyshire to score. Eva Hunter then produced an individual try after receiving the ball inside her own half, using power, pace and sidestepping to finish.
Leach was carried off the field following that play and, by the 15th minute, Anna Davies scored in the corner after a kick over the top from Izzy Rowe. Derbyshire and Hunter both added second tries for Wigan, with the report noting a poor conversion rate from Rowe prevented an even larger early margin.
St Helens managed only a Luci McColm try on the stroke of half-time before Molly Jones scored on her first appearance of the season after a knee injury. Wigan then finished the game strongly in the final quarter as Remi Wilton, Jenna Foubister and Mary Coleman also crossed, with Denis Betts' side picking up from where they had left off in their last match nearly four weeks earlier.
The match was the first under the new Super Four format introduced for 2026. After seven rounds where all sides played each other once, the league splits into a top four and a bottom four with points carried forward; there will be six rounds of home-and-away fixtures against the other three teams in each section over the next six weekends. The side finishing top at the end of the split secures a direct place into the Grand Final, second and third play off for the other final spot and fourth misses out completely, while in the Shield the team finishing bottom will play the winners of the National Championship for the final Super League place in 2027.
