Williams and Perovic fire Bengaluru to 2-0 win over Chennaiyin

Ryan Williams and Mihailo Perovic scored either side of half-time as Bengaluru FC defeated Chennaiyin FC 2-0 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday in an Indian Super League match.
The victory was Bengaluru’s second in succession while Chennaiyin remain without a win this season and are still searching for their first three points under Pep Munoz.
Bengaluru created an early opening around the 10th minute when Perovic, picked out by Williams, struck directly at Chennaiyin goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz but failed to convert.
The hosts took the lead in the 24th minute when Perovic, stationed on the right, delivered a cross towards the left; Borja Martinez’s effort was parried by Nawaz and Williams reacted fastest to score from the rebound.
Bengaluru doubled their advantage in the early stages of the second half, with a left-sided Borja cross not cleared by the Chennaiyin defence and Perovic tapping into an unguarded net in the 52nd minute.
Substitute Sunil Chhetri had a late opportunity to extend the lead but Nawaz produced a sharp save to deny the talismanic forward, while Chennaiyin struggled to exert control and often relied on Ramon Tanque dropping deep to initiate attacks.
Elsewhere, at Pune, Inter Kashi FC drew 1-1 with Odisha FC; Thoi Singh scored in the 89th minute for Inter Kashi and Pratik Chaudhari was credited with an own goal for Odisha in the 56th minute.
Bengaluru now sit on six points from two matches, while Chennaiyin have one point from two games.
