Caleb Williams and Jeffery Simmons powered the Chicago Bears to a 34-17 victory over the host Seattle Seahawks on Monday night in Seattle. Simmons made an immediate defensive impact while Williams delivered efficient passing as Chicago improved to 6-2.

Chicago entered the game 6-2 while Seattle fell to 4-4, the reigning champion Seahawks losing for the third time in four games and now looking up at the NFC playoff standings. The Bears acquired Simmons last week from Tennessee in a deal that included two first-round picks, a move intended to add an edge to a defence that had lacked difference-makers.

Williams completed 71% of his passes for 247 yards, took one sack and committed no turnovers. His efficient decision-making sustained drives and complemented the Bears’ ground work, helping create scoring chances throughout the game.

D’Andre Swift accounted for three short touchdown runs and carried the ball 27 times for a game-high 69 yards. Swift’s production on the ground provided the Bears’ primary scoring punch beyond Williams’s passing output.

Jeffery Simmons registered a sack on the opening drive, added a tackle for loss, finished with six tackles and defended a pass as Chicago limited Seattle to 252 total yards and one third-down conversion on 11 attempts. “I’m so excited to be a Chicago Bear man,” Simmons told ESPN. “This is just the beginning. We’ve got some stuff to clean up but it’s a good football team and I’m happy to be a part of it.”

Sam Darnold completed 17 of 34 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns, but his fourth-quarter interception set up Swift’s third score, giving Chicago a 34-17 lead with 4:41 to play. Seattle managed only 81 rushing yards despite a recent trade for Quenton Nelson and the returns of Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price from injures; Jason Myers had a 33-yard field goal blocked in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, and DeMarcus Lawrence forced a fumble by Colston Loveland that led to Darnold’s seven-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp and a successful two-point conversion to cut the deficit to 20-17.

The Bears opened the game with a 17-play drive that ended when Williams found Luther Burden III for a one-yard touchdown, added two first-half field goals and extended the lead to 20-9 in the third quarter on a one-yard Swift run. Colston Loveland and Luther Burden III each finished with seven receptions in the game.

The defeat ended a 30-game streak for Seattle in the regular season and playoffs of not losing by more than four points. The Seahawks had entered the game with an NFL-best .711 winning percentage on Monday Night Football (32-13).
