Witty Alien stuns world No. 1 Carlsen in Chess.com blitz

Bulgarian chess creator Volen Dyulgerov, known as Witty Alien, stunned world No. 1 Magnus Carlsen in a blitz game during Chess.com's Chess Club Showdown, according to a Times of India report published on October 4, 2026.

The 27-year-old Candidate Master, who produces energetic content and employs the "Alien Gambit," holds a 2181 FIDE rating.

Despite Carlsen's much higher online rating, Dyulgerov secured an upset victory in the event.
