Five Women’s Premier League franchises will take part in the WPL 2027 auction in Kochi on October 28, contesting 27 remaining squad slots from a shortlist of 146 players. The auction is scheduled to start at 5:30 PM IST.

The player retention window closed on September 28, 2026, after which the five teams had retained 63 players, including 23 overseas cricketers. That process left 27 vacancies on squad lists, seven of which are for overseas players. UP Warriorz enter the auction with the largest remaining purse, Gujarat Giants have the fewest vacancies to fill, and Mumbai Indians hold the most open slots for Indian players, at six.

A total of 146 players registered for the WPL 2027 auction: 119 Indians, comprising 22 capped and 97 uncapped players, and 27 overseas players, of whom 14 are capped and 13 uncapped. Six of the overseas entrants represent Associate Nations.

England’s Sophia Dunkley and Australia’s Sophie Molineux top the list with a base price of ₹50 lakh. G. Kamalini, Kiran Navgire, Heather Graham and Jess Jonassen are listed at a ₹40 lakh base price. A further 30 players are in the ₹30 lakh bracket, four are at ₹20 lakh, and 106 have registered at ₹10 lakh.

UP Warriorz have the largest remaining purse, ₹3.75 crore, and eight slots to fill, including three overseas positions. Gujarat Giants face just three vacancies and retain ₹1.25 crore. Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals each have five slots to fill, with ₹1.15 crore and ₹1.10 crore remaining respectively, while Mumbai Indians have ₹90 lakh left and need to add six players.

Teams will vie for 27 available slots drawn from the 146-player pool; 20 Indians and seven overseas players are required to fill those openings. The auction in Kochi on October 28 will allocate those slots among the five franchises.

The fifth WPL season is scheduled from January 14 to February 7, 2027, and franchises will use the October 28 auction to complete their squads ahead of that tournament window.
