WPL 2027: UP Warriorz retain 11 players and release six ahead of auction

With the retention deadline arriving on September 28, five WPL franchises have finalised the players they want to keep. Attention now turns to the WPL 2027 auction, which is scheduled for October 28 at the Grand Hyatt in Kochi, where teams can make further changes to their squads.

UP Warriorz retained 11 players from their previous squad: Deepti Sharma, Harleen Deol, Kranti Gaud, Meg Lanning, Phoebe Litchfield, Pratika Rawal, Shikha Pandey, Shipra Giri, Simran Shaikh, Sophie Ecclestone and Tara Norris. Meg Lanning will continue with the franchise for the 2027 season, Deepti Sharma remains one of the key Indian players in the squad, and England spinner Sophie Ecclestone has been retained as part of the overseas group.

The franchise released six players ahead of the auction: Kiran Navgire, Chloe Tryon, Amy Jones, Deandra Dottin, Asha Sobhana and Shweta Sehrawat. The list of departures includes several experienced names as UP Warriorz prepare for the new WPL season.
