On October 7, 2026, updates involving Jacob Fatu, Enzo Amore, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus circulated as WWE prepared for Money in the Bank 2026 in New Orleans. The reports ranged from explanations for Fatu’s TV absence to discussions about potential returns and post-contract options for exiting talent.

With Money in the Bank just days away, social-media chatter and insider reports have focused on several separate storylines and personnel situations. The items under discussion include the angle that wrote Jacob Fatu off television, the status of Enzo Amore’s rumored comeback, Drew McIntyre’s role in a company project, and Sheamus’s free-agent status after his contract expired.

Fatu was removed from WWE programming after an on-screen segment in which he was struck by a car driven by Jaida Parker; the beat was presented as part of a storyline involving The Bloodline and The 946. A backstage update reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, however, indicates Fatu is believed to be filming a WWE project alongside Drew McIntyre and Joe Hendry, and that those filming commitments prompted the creative decision to temporarily write him off television.

Drew McIntyre’s connection to the same filming project has not been tied to an immediate in-ring return. Reports say McIntyre remains involved with the company through the microdrama work but that WWE does not currently have concrete plans for his return to active storylines; there is no confirmed date for his reappearance.

Regarding Enzo Amore, Meltzer told Wrestling Observer Radio that a return to NXT was at one time regarded as "pretty much a done deal," but those plans did not come to fruition. WWE reportedly preferred to keep Enzo separate from his former partner Big Cass, believing Cass had greater potential as a singles performer; as of October 7 there was no confirmation that Enzo had signed with WWE or that a return had been scheduled.

Sheamus became a free agent earlier this month after his WWE contract expired, with reports indicating the company chose not to renew and that a proposed restructured deal would have included a significant pay cut. Fightful Select has reported interest from AEW, with several established AEW veterans reportedly advocating for his signing, and there have been discussions about a possible TNA debut; those reports do not, however, indicate that a deal is imminent.

Independent veteran Necro Butcher (Dylan Summers) announced via Facebook on October 6 that he had signed a "basic Legends deal" with WWE despite never having wrestled for the promotion. Butcher said the offer arrived shortly after he left his regular job and that the agreement could lead to multiple WWE-related projects; PWInsider has separately confirmed with WWE sources that the nostalgia/Legends deal is legitimate and Butcher will continue to honor scheduled independent appearances.

Money in the Bank 2026 is scheduled for October 10 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the next few days are expected to produce further updates on major storylines and creative plans for the remainder of 2026.
