WWE rumor roundup: Rusev talks, Eric Young back in NXT production, KAIRI linked to AEW and other updates
WWE reported several backstage developments on October 26, 2026, as the promotion builds toward Crown Jewel at Riyadh Season Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 7, including reports of discussions over Rusev’s possible return, Eric Young’s role in NXT production, ongoing talks involving KAIRI and AEW, and other personnel updates.
The company’s lead-up to Crown Jewel and the next phase of its rivalries has coincided with a broader wrestling landscape in which AEW has drawn interest from out-of-contract performers and some talents are exploring returns to WWE or moves elsewhere; Khel Now compiled the most recent rumours and backstage reports in its October 26 roundup.
Fightful Select reported that discussions about Rusev returning to WWE began as far back as September, noting the Bulgarian Brute has had multiple feuds and storylines during his second run with the company; the report added that a television comeback could provide another experienced name for WWE as it prepares for Crown Jewel and Survivor Series.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that veteran Eric Young has been working off-screen as a producer for NXT since July 2026, following his earlier request for release from TNA which ended his most recent stint there; the item recalled that Young returned to WWE in 2022 but left before appearing on television for personal and professional reasons, and added that Young and Triple H have maintained good relations and that Young has reportedly been welcome to return whenever he liked.
Fightful also reported that former WWE star KAIRI, previously known as Kairi Sane, remains a target for All Elite Wrestling and for promotions in Japan, with discussions between KAIRI and AEW ongoing but no contract finalized; the coverage noted she was a former Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Asuka as part of The Kabuki Warriors and that her next destination is unconfirmed.
Pro Wrestling Rebellion has scheduled the Bollywood Boyz, formerly the Singh Brothers, to debut for the promotion on January 22, 2027, at an event at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi, India; the duo said they were excited about returning to India, recalled gaining prominence in the Indian promotion Ring Ka King approximately 15 years ago, and the appearance will take place at PWR’s second live event in New Delhi following PWR Kranti in September at the same venue.
Fightful Select’s backstage production notes identified WWE producer TJ Wilson as the producer of the Street Fight between Giulia and Blake Monroe on the October 23 episode of SmackDown; the match’s stipulation permitted use of weapons, Monroe emerged victorious, and the report said Wilson has extensive behind-the-scenes experience with the women’s roster.
As of October 26, WWE still plans to hold Crown Jewel at Riyadh Season Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 7, and while Rusev’s return has been the subject of reports, there was no confirmation from either party about him appearing on programming as of that date.
