WWE schedules Sunday Night’s Main Event for Sept. 6, 2026 in Atlanta with Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton confirmed

WWE has announced matches for the September 6, 2026 edition of Sunday Night’s Main Event, which will be held at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, and will feature a one-on-one bout between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.
The September 6 show sits between SummerSlam and Money in the Bank on the 2026 calendar and will be the first time the programme formerly known as Saturday Night’s Main Event is staged on a Sunday. The date had originally been allocated to the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in New Orleans, but that event was moved to Saturday, October 10 at the Smoothie King Center. United States viewers can watch SNME live on Peacock, the show will be available on YouTube in most international markets, and Indian viewers can tune in via Sony Liv.
Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton were confirmed to face each other after General Manager Nick Aldis said he would try to book the match and then made it official on social media. The pair engaged in a drawn-out brawl on the August 14 edition of SmackDown after Rhodes demanded a match with Orton earlier in that broadcast.
The match follows an incident at SummerSlam in which Orton attacked Rhodes, an interference that, according to the announcement, cost Rhodes the Undisputed title match against CM Punk. WWE has stated there will be no championship on the line when Rhodes and Orton meet on September 6, with the contest driven by their ongoing rivalry.
This meeting will be their first since WrestleMania 42, where Rhodes defeated Orton to retain the Undisputed title. The promotion has presented the upcoming SNME bout as the next chapter in that storyline.
Abhijit Singh reported the announcement; the article notes he is a budding sports journalist with over three years of experience and a photographer since 2018, and that his academic background includes philosophy and political science.
Sunday Night’s Main Event is scheduled for September 6, 2026 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, and Money in the Bank will now take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
