The staging next year will be only the second Royal Rumble held in February after 2025, as the PLE traditionally takes place in January. A new report has now shed more light on what WWE has planned to do for the 2026 edition in Arizona, and WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select says the company is seriously exploring turning Royal Rumble into a two-night show.
According to the WrestleVotes Radio report on Fightful Select, WWE is considering introducing the two-night format as soon as the 2027 edition in Phoenix, Arizona, though the outlet adds no official plans have been finalized. Sources within WWE reportedly expect the Royal Rumble to remain a one-night event for the immediate future, yet there is a belief that 2027 could be the final year of the traditional single-night format.
The report states WWE is interested in transforming the Royal Rumble into a larger, "multi-night destination event." The company has previously moved WrestleMania to two nights in 2020 and SummerSlam to two nights in 2025, and this report suggests an intent to extend the two-night model to the promotion’s other major PLEs.
Supporters of a two-night Royal Rumble point to the men’s and women’s Rumble matches as headline attractions that could each top separate nights, making the PLE a logical candidate for expansion.
