WXM to relaunch live pro wrestling in India as Ground Zero premieres on October 23
Wrestling Xtreme Mania (WXM) will bring live professional wrestling back to India when its new show Ground Zero premieres on October 23. The debut will be broadcast on Unite8 Sports and streamed on Zee5.
WXM says it aims to produce a pro wrestling product that includes both competition and sports entertainment and to establish a steady wrestling offering for Indian viewers rather than staging occasional live events. The company has framed the launch as a broadcast expansion for the Indian market, with episodes set to be released on Fridays.
The promotion will mix Indian performers with international names, listing Raj "The Maharaja" Singh, formerly known to WWE audiences as Jinder Mahal, alongside Zack Sabre Jr., Donovan Dijak, Samuray Del Sol and Axel Tischer. WXM’s roster choices are presented as a way to serve both long-standing wrestling fans and newcomers to the scene.
Organisers describe the show as a potential regular platform for Indian professional wrestling. Weekly broadcasts, the promotion says, should allow talent to establish themselves and build rivalries that can play out beyond one-off events.
The launch is being positioned against the continued popularity of foreign promotions such as WWE among Indian audiences. WXM’s regular television and streaming presence is presented in the article as a route to grow a local fanbase and to give Indian wrestlers opportunities to appear on TV and develop their in-ring personas.
The announcement included the following promotional message: "Massive opportunity in the Indian wrestling market as @Official_WXM is going live now. 🇮🇳 🤼♂️Pro Wrestling returns to television in India on Unite8 Sports and streams on ZEE5 On October 23. pic.twitter.com/axZND2y0fp"
Ground Zero is set to premiere on October 23, with WXM bringing live pro wrestling back to India and featuring former WWE World Champions. Top wrestlers like Raj "The Maharaja" Singh, formerly known to WWE audiences as Jinder Mahal, as well as Zack Sabre Jr., Donovan Dijak, Samuray Del Sol and Axel Tischer are expected to feature in the Ground Zero Zee5 Premier Episode.
