Xbox Series X/S and ROG Xbox Ally receive AMD FSR 4 support in October 2026 GDK

Microsoft has officially rolled out AMD FSR 4 support for Xbox Series X/S and the ROG Xbox Ally through the October 2026 Xbox Game Development Kit, the company announced on 2026-11-06. The update does not immediately change gameplay for players but enables AMD’s AI-based upscaling tools for developers.
The latest Xbox GDK now provides tools and sample implementations that allow developers to integrate FSR 4 across Xbox consoles and supported handheld devices. Microsoft worked with AMD to optimise the technology for RDNA 2-based GPUs so Series X/S and the Asus ROG Xbox Ally lineup can handle the machine learning–powered image upscaling. Developers can select between FSR 4 Full and FSR 4 Lite INT8 models based on their performance and image-quality targets.

Microsoft supplied performance figures for FSR 4 on Xbox Series X, reporting processing costs of around 1.29 and 2.75 milliseconds of GPU time for the INT8 Lite and 4K outputs, respectively. Those options are intended to help developers balance higher resolution against lower frame rates as required by each title.
AMD FSR 4 (FidelityFX Super Resolution 4) is described in the GDK materials as an AI-powered image upscaling technology designed to improve game performance while maintaining image quality. The update in the Xbox GDK makes FSR 4 available to developers targeting Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Asus ROG Xbox Ally, and ROG Xbox Ally X via Microsoft’s latest Game Development Kit.
AMD has also indicated that forthcoming initiatives, including Xbox Project Helix and the next generation of FSR, will continue to advance console performance. Players will not see changes until studios update their games to implement the new upscaling technology.
Developers must update their games with FSR 4 support before players can experience its benefits. For further updates, Khel Now Gaming encourages readers to follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, download the Khel Now Android or iOS app, or join their communities on Telegram and WhatsApp.
