Xbox unveils Mythic Achievement with new tracking and retroactive support

Xbox announced the Mythic Achievement on September 30, 2026, introducing a reward for players who complete a game's full base achievement list and rolling out new progress-tracking tools and retroactive support for eligible titles.
Xbox described the Mythic Achievement as a recognition awarded for unlocking every original achievement included with a game’s base release, likening it to PlayStation’s Platinum trophy; the company said the system covers Xbox Series, Xbox One and qualifying Xbox 360 games and excludes DLC and post-launch achievements.
Xbox stated that players who already have the base-game achievements will receive Mythic status retroactively once their console receives the update, provided they are members of the Xbox Insider program and the title qualifies for the program’s rollout.
The update restores and expands tracking features: every game’s achievements page will show a progress bar at the top, players can view lists of achievements still available to unlock, and achievements added after launch are clearly labeled as "add-on."
A new Gaming tab will consolidate achievement-related information across a player’s library, with Xbox saying that the section highlights Gamerscore milestones, completed achievements and Mythic Achievements; the Guide and individual achievement pages will also surface Mythic status.
Xbox named Gears of War: E-Day as the first title to launch with Mythic Achievement support, with the game scheduled for release on October 6, 2026.
Players can track their path to Mythic by using the new progress bar, filtering to show original (base-game) achievements, and viewing Mythic status through the Gaming tab, the Guide and achievement pages once the Xbox update is available.
