Delhi Capitals announced on social media on Tuesday, October 13 that Yuvraj Singh has been appointed assistant coach and batting coach ahead of IPL 2027. The franchise has already appointed Sourav Ganguly as head coach.

With the Indian Premier League approaching its next edition, franchises are rebuilding squads and coaching teams to compete in IPL 2027. Indian cricket has seen several former players move into coaching and mentoring roles in recent years. Delhi Capitals are among the teams making changes after missing the playoffs in IPL 2025 and 2026. The franchise reached its only IPL final in 2020 but has yet to win the tournament and will hope the new coaching setup improves consistency.

The club's announcement included a video featuring Ganguly that focused on the qualities of a leader and the fighting spirit of a champion. The post also carried statements from Yuvraj expressing his enthusiasm for the new role and for working alongside Ganguly. The social-media presentation framed the pairing as part of the franchise’s refreshed coaching group.

“I am excited to begin a new chapter in my life with the Delhi Capitals. I have an old association with the franchise and know the owners well, which makes this a special opportunity for me,” Yuvraj said.

“I’m also looking forward to teaming up with Dada, this time as coaches. Coaching is something I am truly passionate about, and I cannot wait to get started with this extremely talented squad,” he added.

Yuvraj has spent recent years mentoring young Indian players, including Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. The franchise suggested his experience could prove useful as Delhi Capitals look to strengthen their batting unit and support the development of their players.

The appointment of Yuvraj comes ahead of IPL 2027 and forms part of Delhi Capitals’ wider coaching rebuild; the franchise will hope the changes help them produce more consistent performances and challenge for their first IPL title.
