On 3 October 2026, Julia Zigiotti Olme's sixth-minute lob secured a 1-0 home victory for Manchester United over Liverpool in the Women's Super League. The early strike proved decisive in a match United saw out to claim the three points.

The win gave Manchester United coach Eva Olid her second WSL victory of the season and their second consecutive league success. Olid has overseen four straight wins in all competitions following a shaky start under the new head coach, and the match was United's 250th since the team reformed in 2018.

The goal arrived after Liverpool goalkeeper Khiara Keating misplayed a pass out from the back; Zigiotti Olme intercepted and chipped the ball into the net in the sixth minute. That breakthrough came before half-time and settled an otherwise closely contested game.

Liverpool sought an equaliser and forced a notable goalkeeper intervention midway through the first half when United's Phallon Tullis-Joyce produced a double save. Tullis-Joyce first kept out a low effort from Cornelia Kapocs and then reacted quickly to deny Beata Olsson on the rebound.

United threatened at the other end before the interval when Jess Park struck the crossbar with a left-footed shot from the edge of the box. Andrea Medina's follow-up was pushed onto the post and saved by Khiara Keating at her near post.

Gareth Taylor's side continued to press in the second half and their clearest late opportunity came 20 minutes from time, when Jenna Clark was unmarked from a corner but directed her header off target.

The victory moves Manchester United level on points with Liverpool in the WSL, with both clubs three points adrift of the European places, and extends United's unbeaten run to five matches.
