Anahat Singh defeated Salma Hany to reach her maiden PSA Gold-level semifinal at the Silicon Valley Open in Redwood City, USA on October 23, 2026. The 18-year-old advanced after a five-game victory to move into the tournament’s last four.

Singh is 18, ranked world No.15 and is the reigning world junior champion. A day earlier she had beaten Egyptian world No.3 and eight-time world champion Nour ElSherbini in straight games. Hany entered the match as the Egyptian sixth seed and is ranked world No.14.

The win came in the quarterfinals, with Singh prevailing 4-11, 11-8, 4-11, 11-2, 11-5 in 42 minutes. She recovered from being 2-1 down to close out the match in five games. The result sent her through to the tournament’s semifinal stage.

“I've never played her before, and I didn't know what to expect coming on to the court. I have watched her play so many times, and she is so experienced on the PSA Tour,” Anahat said of Hany.

“Especially after winning yesterday (against ElSherbini), I know that If I'm playing well I had a chance against whoever I played. I wanted to come in with that mindset,” added the reigning world junior champion.

Singh said she felt some fatigue coming into the last-four stage. "...because of the emotions after winning yesterday. I just didn't want to let go of the momentum today, I wanted to give it my all and I'm happy to get one step further in the tournament," added the Delhi player, who won singles silver at the recent Asian Games.

By reaching the semifinals, Singh became the first Indian woman since 2019 to reach a PSA Gold event semi-finals; she will next face Malaysian world No.4 and reigning Asian Games champion Sivasangari Subramaniam in the last four.
