Andy Woodman leaves Bromley after five years and seven months in charge

Andy Woodman has left Bromley, the League One club, after his contract was mutually terminated on 22 October 2026. His five years and seven months in charge was the third-longest across the 92 clubs in the Premier League and EFL.
Woodman joined Bromley in 2021 in his first managerial role and oversaw the club's most successful period, winning three trophies while guiding them into the Football League for the first time. Bromley lifted the League Two title in May this year to secure a second promotion on his watch, and Woodman was named the division's manager of the year for 2025-26. Across his tenure he won 123 of his 289 games in charge of Bromley, a win percentage of 42.6.
The team sit 23rd in League One, one point above bottom club Wigan Athletic. They have won just two of their 10 league games this season. Bromley have conceded an EFL-high 25 goals so far this campaign.
Recent results included a 4-0 loss to Leicester City on Tuesday, which was their third straight league defeat and fifth consecutive defeat across all competitions. Earlier heavy reversals listed in the season's run were a 7-2 defeat at Hillsborough and a 5-0 loss at Hayes Lane to Leyton Orient. The start of the season has been compounded by an incredibly long injury list and a large turnover in the squad.
Woodman still had two years remaining on his contract at the time the club and manager agreed to part ways by mutual consent. The club announced the termination as mutual following the sequence of poor results. The departure ends a spell that included Bromley's first promotions into the Football League and a League Two title.
Assistant manager Byron Webster will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis, the club confirmed. Bromley owner and chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves paid tribute to Woodman, saying he had been "fundamental" in helping the club reach new heights. "On a personal note, Andy has been a pleasure to work with, and I wish him all the best for the future," Stanton-Gleaves added.
Webster will be in interim charge for the upcoming home match against Peterborough United at Hayes Lane on Saturday (15:00 BST). The fixture is the club's next confirmed match following Woodman's departure.
