Asian Games 2026: Anahat and Abhay lose singles finals to Malaysia’s Sivasangari and NG Eain Yow

Eighteen-year-old Anahat, making her maiden singles appearance at the Games and the nation’s first Indian women’s silver medallist in the event, arrived in the final after upsetting World No. 6 Satomi Watanabe the previous day but was unable to sustain that form; Sivasangari controlled the match and closed it in 27 minutes, 11-4, 11-4, 11-7, with Anahat winning 15 points in total.
The men’s final was similarly one-sided. NG Eain Yow, described in the report as having broken into the top-10 last year and currently the highest-ranked Asian in the world at 18th, edged Abhay in a tight opening game 11-9 in 21 minutes before dominating the next two games; Abhay managed 10 points across the second and third games, which lasted 19 minutes combined, as Eain wrapped up his second gold.
Malaysia’s success added to its historical haul in Asian Games squash: since the sport’s inclusion in the Asiad programme in 1998, Malaysia has now won five of the eight men’s singles titles and seven of the women’s singles titles.
