Atletico Madrid beat Manchester United 2-0, Bayern Munich were held to a 3-3 draw by Viking Stavanger in Norway, Inter Milan lost 4-3 at San Siro, and Barcelona came from behind to beat Galatasaray 4-1 in Istanbul on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League.

European heavyweights faced a testing night across the group stage as Atletico struck early against Manchester United and Barcelona overturned an early deficit in Turkey; Arsenal and Villarreal also recorded wins while several other established sides had to work for points.

Atletico made an immediate impact against Manchester United, scoring inside the opening minute, and Ademola Lookman sealed a 2-0 victory late in the second half; United were further disadvantaged when Leny Yoro was sent off, leaving the visitors with limited opportunity to mount a comeback.

In Norway, Viking Stavanger raced into a 2-0 lead through Gianni Stensness in the second minute and Peter Christiansen in the 38th, but Harry Kane began Bayern’s recovery from the penalty spot in the 54th, levelled with a header six minutes later and Luis Diaz put Bayern ahead in the 71st; Michael Olise’s 74th-minute dismissal preceded Herman Johan Haugen’s 90th-minute goal that secured a 3-3 draw, and Kane extended his scoring run to nine consecutive Champions League matches.

Inter suffered a shock 4-3 home defeat to Club Brugge as Nicolo Tresoldi scored a hat-trick, opening from the penalty spot in the 30th minute after Hakan Calhanoglu fouled Carlos Forbs, restoring Brugge’s lead following Lautaro Martinez’s equaliser and completing his treble in the 74th minute; Romeo Vermant added a goal in the 87th, and although Martinez scored again before Ange-Yoan Bonny found the net in stoppage time, the late response was insufficient.

Barcelona conceded first when Aleksei Batrakov put Galatasaray ahead in the 28th minute, but Joao Cancelo levelled in the 43rd; Fermin Lopez put Barcelona ahead five minutes after the restart, Anthony Gordon scored in the 53rd and Karim Adeyemi added a 65th-minute goal to complete a 4-1 win. Arsenal turned a tight game into a 3-0 victory over Lille with Jurrien Timber opening the scoring in the 64th minute, Eberechi Eze adding a second in the 67th and Bukayo Saka finishing the move in the 71st.

Villarreal recovered from an early deficit to beat Napoli 3-1 after Amir Rrahmani’s eighth-minute opener; Georges Mikautadze equalised in the 23rd minute and Santiago Mourio scored three minutes later, with Tani Oluwaseyi adding a third in the 86th. Elsewhere, RB Leipzig beat PSV Eindhoven 1-0 through Brajan Gruda’s 75th-minute goal with goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt saving a penalty from Ivan Perisic; Sporting CP defeated Lens 2-0 via Luis Suarez (22nd) and Issa Doumbia (74th); Sabah Baku overcame Slavia Prague 2-0 with goals from Kaheem Parris (49th) and Joy-Lance Mickels (88th).

Inter’s surprise defeat and Bayern’s late collapse emerged as the night’s biggest talking points, while Atletico’s early strike and Barcelona’s recovery stood out among established sides that were made to work for points.
