The Board of Control for Cricket in India extended the IPL 2027 player-retention submission deadline by two days to November 17, informing all ten franchises on Monday, November 2. The original cutoff had been November 15.

The move followed a clash between the original retention deadline and the fifth and final ODI between India and New Zealand at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. According to a report by Cricbuzz, the BCCI conveyed the revised deadline through an official communication to all ten franchises. The board said there will be no change to the date or venue of the IPL mini-auction.

The two-day extension is intended to give franchises extra time to decide which players to retain and which to release ahead of the mini-auction. The player registration window opened on November 2 and will close on November 23. The mini-auction will be held as a one-day event in Goa.

The mini-auction in Goa on December 16 will be the final mini-auction before the next mega-auction scheduled ahead of the 2028 IPL season. The auction date coincides with India’s international fixtures, with the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka also scheduled for December 16. The BCCI has not announced any change to the auction date.

Previous IPL mini-auctions were staged outside India; the December 16 event will return the one-day auction to Indian soil. All ten franchises will have the opportunity at the Goa event to add players and complete their squads for the upcoming season.

Retention lists are now due on November 17 and player registration closes on November 23, with the IPL mini-auction set for December 16 in Goa. The IPL 2027 season is expected to take place between March 14 and May 30, though the BCCI has yet to publish an official tournament schedule.
