Chapman, Ravindra miss India series as Nicholls and Seifert join New Zealand squad

Auckland, November 2, 2026 — New Zealand have ruled senior batters Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra out of the five-match ODI series against India starting on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, after both players failed to recover from injuries, New Zealand Cricket said on Monday.
Chapman is undergoing rehabilitation for a hamstring problem while Ravindra continues to struggle with a shoulder niggle. "A recent MRI showed Chapman's left hamstring requires another two weeks of rehabilitation before he is fully fit to return to the field, whilst Ravindra's right shoulder requires more recovery time before he's able to field at full capacity," NZC said in a statement.
Tim Seifert, who had been named for the fourth and fifth ODIs only, has been added to the squad for the entire series. Henry Nicholls has been brought into the squad for the first three matches, and Dean Foxcroft has been pencilled in for the fourth and fifth games.
Matt Henry is joining the squad today and will be assessed for his readiness to play. Matt Fisher, originally selected for the fourth and fifth ODIs, will remain with the touring party for the full series as an additional bowling option.
The decisions follow medical assessments and selection adjustments announced by New Zealand Cricket ahead of the series opener. The five-match ODI series against India is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
