Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton brawl closes SmackDown in Boston; Jacy Jayne pins Tiffany Stratton

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton brawled to close the August 14, 2026 edition of Friday Night SmackDown at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The show also featured Jacy Jayne pinning Tiffany Stratton to win the WWE Women's United States Championship and several other title matches and changes.
Friday’s programme included two United States title matches, a WWE Tag Team title match and appearances from multiple top names. The broadcast addressed interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green’s injury and whether she will be stripped of the title. WWE also confirmed a major match for the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Gunther defeated Cardona on the card. Corbin (c) retained the United States Championship against Carmelo. After that title defence, Williams and Yachty ambushed Corbin following the match.
The MFTs defeated Wepa Up (c) and the War Raiders to win the WWE Tag Team Championships, with Haku at their side. Wepa Up entered the match as the defending champions. The result produced new WWE Tag Team Champions on the SmackDown broadcast.
Earlier in the show the Irresistible Forces attacked Tiffany Stratton. Later, Jacy Jayne defeated Stratton (c) to capture the Women's United States title. The win listed Jayne as the new Women's United States Champion.
A scheduled main event between Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn never started after Randy Orton attacked Rhodes before the match. Rhodes and Orton then brawled, and their confrontation closed the show. The broadcast ended with that in-ring altercation.
WWE confirmed Money in the Bank as the next premium live event after SummerSlam 2026 and set the 2026 edition for October 10, 2026 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
