Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez to marry in Funchal on August 8

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are due to marry on Saturday, 8 August, in Funchal, Madeira, the city where Ronaldo was born. The couple will hold the religious ceremony at Funchal Cathedral and plan to celebrate at the five-star Savoy Palace hotel.
Ronaldo, described in reports as 41 years old, and Rodríguez, 32, have been together for nearly a decade, and organisers have chosen Funchal Cathedral — in the capital’s historic centre and with seating for roughly 800 people — for the ceremony. The cathedral sits about a five-minute walk or drive from the Savoy Palace, which has been reserved for the post-ceremony celebrations.
The Savoy Palace is reported to have six swimming pools, a spa, extensive sea views, multiple five-star restaurants and round-the-clock service across its 352 rooms. Members of Ronaldo’s family have been seen at the hotel ahead of the event.
Ronaldo and his family are booked into The Reserve, the property’s ‘‘hotel-within-a-hotel’’ on the upper floors, which is listed at £1,100 per night. Privileged private areas include the Jacarandá Lounge & Club, noted for a private rooftop infinity pool, a solarium, exclusive dining and an assigned personal butler.
For the celebration the couple may use one of the Savoy Palace’s larger spaces, such as the Galáxia rooftop areas or the Grand Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 1,000 guests; the venue’s grand entrance reportedly features a 33-foot-tall metal chandelier with fresh flower arrangements underneath. Ronaldo and Rodríguez have been seen moving through the hotel’s public areas in advance of the wedding.
Reports say the pair will descend a huge curved filigree-shaped staircase that leads to an 18-metre swimming pool after passing through the hotel’s green bar, where a pianist performs in the afternoons. Guestroom amenities noted in the coverage include ocean views, walk-in wardrobes, private bathrooms and a deluxe pillow menu, with housekeeping available to deliver favourite dishes to suites.
Ronaldo’s longstanding connection to Madeira is referenced in the coverage by the presence of a bronze statue in his honour, his Museu CR7 and his association with the Pestana CR7 Funchal Hotel. The published details state that the wedding celebrations will take place at the Savoy Palace Hotel in Madeira.
