Anshul Kamboj is set to be added to India's squad for the third ODI against West Indies in New Chandigarh on October 3 after Prasidh Krishna suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI in Guwahati, ESPNcricinfo reported; Sportstar named Kamboj as the likely replacement.

India have already won the three-match series after taking a 2-0 lead, leaving the final game as the series decider. Prasidh bowled only five overs in Guwahati before leaving the field and did not return to the match, and his injury has become a concern as the team prepares for the concluding fixture.

Sportstar reported that Kamboj was representing India A against Australia A in an unofficial Test in Puducherry when he received the senior call-up and left that match to join the national squad. In the India A game he took 3/34 from 17.3 overs in the first innings and bowled two overs in the second innings before departing; Praful Hinge replaced him in the India A playing XI.

Kamboj played for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026, taking 21 wickets in 14 matches. The call-up to the senior side follows his departure from the India A fixture, and the reports described the selection as another step forward in his career.

The reports stated Prasidh will miss the third ODI because of his hamstring injury and will report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for further scans. India therefore require an additional pace option for the New Chandigarh match.

With the series already decided, India may use the third ODI to assess their bowling combination and manage workload ahead of the upcoming T20I series; the third ODI is scheduled for October 3 in New Chandigarh, where Kamboj could receive his first chance to represent India in the 50-over format if selected.
