Emilio Gay 141 helps Durham close day one 355-5 at Old Trafford in County Championship Division Two

England opener Emilio Gay made 141 as Durham dominated day one of their Division Two County Championship match against Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford on 24 September 2026, the visitors finishing on 355-5.

Gay's century was his fourth in 10 Championship innings this season and came after Durham had stated they would not ease up despite the Division Two title having been won; the scorecard header listed Bailey 2-52 and showed Lancashire 1 point, Durham 3 points.

Durham reached 112-1 by lunch with Ben McKinney unbeaten on 64, having put on an unbroken 102 with Gay and hit 17 boundary fours; Alex Lees had been caught behind off Tom Bailey for three in the third over of the morning.

Those dismissals left Durham 306-5 before Ollie Robinson and Kasey Aldridge added enough to secure a third batting bonus point at the close; Noman finished the day with figures of 2-110 and Lancashire had earlier dropped four catches, all off Durham's top scorers.
