Essex confirm Robin Das no longer under contract amid rape case

Essex County Cricket Club confirmed on 10 October 2026 that Robin Das, a 24-year-old batter of Bangladeshi origin, is no longer under contract amid a rape case.
The club said the decision followed his suspension and unavailability.
Das faces two rape charges and was granted conditional bail ahead of a five-day trial scheduled for January 2028.
Essex emphasised that ending his contract was separate from the ongoing legal proceedings.
