Everton were central to transfer activity on Merseyside as the transfer deadline day loomed on 31 August 2026, the Guardian live blog reported.

The live update said Balogun should be an upgrade on Beto up front and that David Moyes sounded quite confident about Thierno Barry’s progress at the start of his second season in English football. It raised questions about how much game time Barry would get if and when Balogun arrives.
