Juventus in talks to loan Nick Woltemade as Everton push for Folarin Balogun

Everton have opened talks with Monaco over a deal for Folarin Balogun after agreeing to sell Beto to Fiorentina. Balogun, a United States international, attracted interest after impressing at the World Cup and for having his red card overturned during the tournament. Born in New York, brought up in London and developed at Arsenal, he made 10 senior Arsenal appearances and had loans at Middlesbrough and Reims before being sold in 2023 to Monaco. At Monaco he was the club’s player of the year last season after scoring 13 goals in 30 Ligue 1 appearances; Beto is due to undergo a medical with Fiorentina after an offer of about £15m was accepted.
Crystal Palace are poised to sign Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor on loan; the 18-year-old is set to join Chelsea on a permanent basis for £40m next summer but will spend this season at Palace to gain experience of English football. Palace’s ability to take Ahanor on loan was affected by their earlier loan signing of Axel Disasi from Chelsea, which would have prevented borrowing Ahanor had he completed a transfer to Stamford Bridge during this window.
