Ferran Torres joins Paris St-Germain from Barcelona after World Cup-winning goal

Ferran Torres, who scored Spain’s extra-time winner against Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final last month, has joined European champions Paris St-Germain from Barcelona.

The 26-year-old has signed a contract with PSG until 2031 for a reported fee of about 50m euros (£42.7m). The club’s announcement follows a campaign in which Torres’s profile rose significantly after strong performances for Barcelona.

Torres recorded 21 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona last season and provided three assists as the club secured the La Liga title. He has been with Barcelona since 2022 and previously spent two years at Manchester City.

At international level Torres has scored 25 goals in 65 appearances for Spain and made his debut for the national team under Luis Enrique. He sealed Spain’s success at the World Cup by netting the extra-time winner against Argentina to help Spain claim their second men’s World Cup last month.

PSG are managed by Luis Enrique, who previously coached and played for Barcelona, and the club have won the Champions League in the past two seasons. Torres becomes the second high-profile forward PSG have signed this summer following the arrival of Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco, and the club added to their trophy haul on Wednesday by beating Aston Villa 2-1 to win the Uefa Super Cup.

PSG could still lose Bradley Barcola this summer, with the forward wanted by Liverpool.
